Nancy Sellars Foundation

Posted by admin  Published in Nancy Sellars

The Nancy Sellars Memorial Foundation  was established to keep Nancy’s memory alive and to have impact on causes that were significant to her. The foundation is an unincorporated, non-profit association dedicated to the enhancement of public trails and waterways in southeastern Wisconsin and the promotion of bicycle safety and the rights of cyclists.  Most importantly, the foundation works to educate the public on the dangerous and wide-ranging impact of drunk driving.  A mistake that takes the life of a friend, spouse, child, co-worker, parent or other loved one is a mistake that can often be prevented. The foundation works to help people recognize the need for the responsible use of alcohol.

In its first year, several events were organized to help raise awareness and funds for the organization.  “Namaste for Nancy” was a Yoga Day USA event hosted by InStep Physical Therapy in Franklin, Wis.  Featuring yoga classes and related activities from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., the event raised over $2,000 for the Nancy Sellars Memorial Foundation, U.A.  Among those who volunteered at the day were members of the Franklin High School SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) group.  Namaste for Nancy will be an annual event.

Another annual event developed to help further the efforts of the foundation is the Bear Trax 20K and Brownie Shuffle Fun Run held on the last Sunday in April (near Nancy’s birthday) at Lapham Peak State Forest (southeastern Wisconsin).  Organizers hoped for 100 participants.  Few expected to make any money or at least nothing more than what would be needed to cover the costs of the run in its first year. However, over 300 people registered for the inaugural run and through generous donations $8,000 was raised for the Nancy Sellars Memorial Foundation.

Next year’s Bear Trax will be on April 25.

The Nancy Sellars Memorial Foundation, U.A., is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Currently we are accepting donations via checks which can be made out to the Nancy Sellars Memorial Fund. Checks can be mailed to:
